ISO 45001, is a tool that helps manage workplace related risks with the aim to minimize the impact these may have, in the health and physical well-being of employees, and to enhance the organization´s management system.

The law on occupational health and safety was created to promote a risk prevention culture in the workplace. This law leans on the employers´ prevention duty, governmental inspections and control, and the participation of employees and their unions who, look out for the promotion, difusion and compliance of the applicable standard. The Ministry of labor is the entity in charge of supervising the compliance of this norm.

SMETA is an ethical audit methodology that covers all the aspects of a responsible corporate practice. Smeta was designed to minimize duplication of efforts and to provide members and suppliers, with an audit format that could be easily shared.

SMETA audits can be conducted through two or four audit pillars. Two mandatory pillars for any SMETA audit, are the labor standards and, health and safety. The two additional pillars are corporate ethics and the environment.
